Our Training Programme
Information Systems (IS) is responsible for the supply and maintenance of information systems to the business and comprises the following departments: Service Management, Development and Plan & Support.

Service Management is part of IS and is responsible for the installation and maintenance of hardware, software, phone systems (fixed and mobile), servers, networks, cabling, over 700 applications and provides support to 11,000 staff across the organisation.

Service Management in Kingswinford, Leeds and Swindon is offering Higher Apprenticeships to people with a committed interest in Information Systems including the motivation to complete a foundation level degree.

Through the programme apprentices will gain experience in all aspects of Service Management.

The apprenticeship will start in September/October 2008 and will take up to 3 years to complete. On completion of the scheme the apprentice will move into one area of Service Management.

The scheme is open to anyone who is eligible to work in the United Kingdom. Entry onto the scheme will require a minimum of 2 good 'A' level grades, GCSEs in a range of subjects including Maths and English and a real interest in IT.

Salary will start at £15,000 per year with reviews every 6 months depending on satisfactory performance. Holiday entitlement will be 25 days per year, and employees will be entitled to join the pension scheme. Apprentices will also be offered a 'golden hello' of £1000.

During the programme apprentices will be expected to attend a local college on either day or block release and achieve:

  • IT Professional NVQ level 3
  • Technical Certificate
  • Key Skills level 3
  • Foundation Level Degree in Computing.


  • Apprentices will also be expected to attend a variety of other training courses to support their apprenticeship programme.
